Lions are magnificent big cats that live in the grassy savanna. Unlike most cats that prefer to be alone, lions are social animals. They live in large family groups called a pride. A pride can have up to 40 lions!
The male lion is easy to spot because of his thick, golden mane. This hair protects his neck when he fights to defend his territory. While the males are big and strong, the lionesses are stealthy hunters. They work together to find food for the whole group.
Because they only eat meat, lions are carnivores. After a successful hunt, the pride eats together. When they aren't hunting, they spend a lot of time resting and playing with their baby cubs. If another animal gets too close, the lion gives a mighty roar that can be heard five miles away!
An Adjective is a word that describes a Noun (a person, place, or thing). It makes our writing more interesting!
